AMIABLE COMMUNICATION STYLE
The amiable communication style tends to be relationship driven, consistent, loyal, and tend to avoid conflict.
In my internship, I have worked to create a relationship with Daphne and the other psychology interns I have been working with. I believe creating relationships are extremely important in everything you do, I can learn the most from other people and their experiences. I have asked Daphne about her professional background in order to gauge her professional interests in order to curate the type of work I do. We have been able to find common ground amongst specific interests which have assisted in giving my internship work direction.
I believe I exemplify the amiable communication type through working to create realtionships. I feel extremely comfortable talking about my personal experiences in hopes that the people I am speaking to will be able to relate. Especially in the field of psychology, I find importance in helping those who I am taking to feel less alone, even if I am just practicing active listening. I really enjoy getting to know the people around me, which I think fits well with my communication style. I have always thought of myself as a great listener, which matches well with an amiable communication style.
I would guess my supervisor Daphne has an amiable communication style. Working together I have noticed she tries to focus on my personal experiences in the work I am doing, and wants me to research and write about my own personal interests. She has done a great job of asking me how I feel both personally and my tasks. I find this helpful as it allows for open communication.
